Didn’t train the YB today

Got up early this morning and caught my YB. Had them loaded and in the van and remembered I hadn’t checked the Planetary k index yet. Thought I had better do so. They didn’t go.

Old birds probably would have taken them, a high K reading doesn’t seem to bother them as much as the young birds.

One of the worst young bird tosses I have experienced, was several years ago, 5 years ago if my memory serves me correctly. It took all day for half of them to get home and the other half trickled in for a week or more. Could have kicked myself over that one. They had been predicting possible communication disruption due to the intensity of the solar flares that week. Wasn’t paying attention, in a hurry and trained anyway. A lesson for me and a very hard lesson for my pigeons.
